Waterways are the cheapest means of transport. It is fuel-efficient, environment friendly and suitable for carrying heavy and bulky goods.

  • India have 13 major and 185 other ports.
  • The best natural port in the country is Visakhapatnam.
  • It is the deepest port in India. It is located behind the dolphin nose rock.
  • Dahej (Gujarat) is the first port in the country, which has been established for the disposal of chemicals, hence it has been named the chemical port.
  • Kandla is a tidal port in Gujarat It is a port with free trade area.
